Basic Pistol Course

Description:

The JTAC Ranch Pistol 101 Course fills out and reinforces the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning, using, and defending themselves with a pistol safely. Throughout the course, students will learn about the weapons function and operation, proper ammunition selection, the fundamentals of marksmanship, and drills that will support shooter skills sustainment. This basic course will also prepare students for participation in other JTAC Ranch courses. (This course is not for students with no prior exposure to firearms)

Goals:

  1. Identify the basic parts of a pistol, types of pistol actions, and understand how they function.
  2. Know the four basic safety rules.
  3. Demonstrate safe pistol handling skills.
  4. Understand how to properly identify and fix a malfunction.
  5. Explain the fundamentals of marksmanship.
  6. Safely draw and shoot a pistol from a holster.
  7. Explain how to disassemble and clean a pistol.

Basic Rifle Course

  • Any AR platform, or commonly available commercial semiautomatic
    rifle which include but are not limited to; .223/5.56mm, .308/7.62mm,
    300 Blackout, .45, 9mm, etc.

  • Rifle Sling
  • Sighting system on rifle. (iron sights, red dot, LPVO)
  • Magazine Pouch

Advanced Pistol Course

Description:

The JTAC Ranch Level 2 Pistol Course reinforces the fundamentals of marksmanship, introduces the students to the proper methods of drawing from a holster under duress, how to quickly and accurately acquire a proper sight picture, and apply the basics much faster than is required in the basic pistol course. Students will demonstrate a command of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to shoot from a standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and other modified shooting positions. Reloading techniques will be learned and applied. Students will learn a number of drills that will reinforce proper application of the fundamentals while under time constraints in order to increase speed and accuracy.

Goals:

  1. Safely draw and shoot a pistol from a holster while under time constraints.
  2. Left and right turn and shoot
  3. Execute proper reloading techniques
  4. Shoot while moving.
  5. Shoot from the 4 standard positions and non-traditional positions
  6. Proficiency shooting pistol at distance

Advanced Rifle Course

Description:

The JTAC Ranch 201Rifle Course reinforces the fundamentals of marksmanship, and introduces the students to the proper methods of shooting rapidly and accurately under duress, how to quickly and accurately acquire a proper sight picture, and apply the basics much faster than is required in the basic rifle course. Students will demonstrate a command of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to shoot from a standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and other modified shooting positions. Students will learn a number of drills that will reinforce proper application of the fundamentals while under time constraints in order to increase speed, accuracy, and provide the ability to shoot while moving.

Goals:

  1. Safely shoot a rifle under time constraints and recoil.
  2. Understanding of different rifle holds/ Sling Manipulation
  3. Left and right turn and shoot
  4. Execute proper reloading techniques
  5. Shoot while moving.
  6. Barricade work exploring non-traditional positions
  7. Proficiency shooting rifle at distance

Long Range Rifle 101

Equipment Requirements:

  • Bolt or gas operated rifle capable of 1MOA (1” at 100 yards/ 0.5” at 50 yards) of accuracy, with attached bipod.
  • 6x powered scope or better with turret adjustments of 1 MOA, ½ MOA, ¼ MOA, 0.1 MIL, or 0.2 MIL. No amazon specials or NCstar like optics.
    *The reticle should have MOA or MIL measurements but is not required. *
  •  .22LR rifles that meet the above accuracy and scope requirements.
  • Paper and pen for note taking.
  • Rear shooting support-AKA “rear bag”
  • Hearing protection
  • Eye protection
  • Chamber flag
  • Rifle Cleaning Kit
  • PERSONAL MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND/ OR MEDICATION

Recommended Equipment (Not Required):

  • Spotting Scope
  • Lunch Box
  • Weapon tool kit with all proper tools to mount and adjust your scope and rifle.

Description

This course is designed for the new precision rifle shooter or shooter with no formal training. The majority of this course is static and is not physically demanding. The course will include: Weapon Safety, Range Rules, Scope Mounting, Weapon Setup, Weapon Manipulation, Weapon Maintenance, Scope
Manipulation, Understanding Zero, and Fundamentals of Marksmanship.

Course Goals

The shooter will learn and enforce the rules of gun safety. The shooter will be able to properly setup the rifle into working order. The shooter will be able to properly maintain their rifle. The shooter will be able to properly “Zero” the rifle. The shooter will have a solid understanding the Fundamentals of Marksmanship.

Long Range Rifle 201

Prerequisites:
Shooter MUST understand all safety standards. Shooter MUST be able to zero rifle without instruction. It is highly recommended that the shooter has some basic formal training in precision rifle or have attended our 101 Basic Precision Rifle Course.

Description:
The course begins with a refresher from our 101 Basic Precision Rifle Course. The course then transitions
into a more complex curriculum that involves: external ballistics, advanced wind reading techniques,
and utilizing hold-overs and hold-offs.

Course goals:
Shooter will be able to develop consistent data (“DOPE”) for rifle engagements out to 1000+ yards. Shooter will be able to identify specific wind indicators and adjust for wind. Shooter will learn how to do quick engagements for targets at multiple distance. Shooter will also learn spotting techniques used to
help see misses and impacts at distant targets.

Course length:
Approximately 8-10 hours

Long Range Rifle 301

Description:
This course is designed for the new PRS shooter or the hunter who wants to take their capabilities to thenext level. The course begins with a refresher from our 101 Basic Precision Rifle Course. The course thentransitions into a more complex curriculum that involves: offhand positional, tripod usage, barricade
shooting, utilizing hold-overs and hold-offs, and Stress-induced Shooting Techniques.

*This course will require the shooter to be able to walk, kneel, and bend. You may always choose not to
do certain portions of the class due to physical limitation.

Course goals:
Shooter will become proficient in engaging multiple targets at different ranges in a short amount of time. Shooter will learn to employ special equipment to include tripods Shooter will become familiarized with shooting from barricades, standing, kneeling, and other obstacles. Shooter will implement stress reduction techniques to help defeat body fatigue or excited body shakes (“Buck fever”). The course will also help hunters identify their equipment and physical limitations to have an effective and ethical hunt.
